A Two-Bay Shop With a Lawn Mower
We are not a showroom and we do not sell golf balls. What we own is a build room, two fitting bays, and forty yards of Bermuda that somebody here has to cut every Wednesday.
It Started as a Complaint
In 2015 two of us were working repair benches at separate Orlando golf retailers, and we kept receiving the same club back for the same reason. Somebody had been fitted indoors, off a mat, into a set of irons with a wide, cambered sole. Six weeks later, on tight dormant Bermuda in February, that sole was skidding into the ball and the player had lost four degrees of descent angle. Nobody had done anything wrong. The fitting had simply been conducted on a surface that does not exist on any golf course in Florida.
We asked whether anyone locally was fitting on real grass. The honest answer was that a couple of clubs did it for their members, and everybody else had moved indoors because indoors is climate controlled, repeatable and much easier to schedule around an afternoon thunderstorm. All of which is true. It is also beside the point if the resulting clubs behave differently on the course.
So we rented a unit with a strip of ground behind it, put in an irrigation line, laid Celebration Bermuda, and started fitting people on it. The indoor bay came later, once we could afford a monitor worth trusting. The order of operations has never changed since: grass first, screen second, bench third.

Ground contact outranks ball speed
Every fitting eventually turns into a conversation about carry distance, and we understand why. But the shot that costs you a stroke is rarely the one that came up four yards short. It is the one that came out low and left because the leading edge dug two inches behind the ball. Consistency of turf entry is the first thing we try to improve, and it is usually worth more strokes than a gain in clubhead speed that you cannot repeat.
The stock shaft is often correct
Aftermarket shafts exist because some players genuinely need a bend profile or weight that is not offered in a stock catalogue. Most players are not in that group. When the shaft that ships in the box tests as well as the upgrade, we say so and you keep the difference. We track this internally and the number has hovered near forty percent of driver sessions for the last three years.
A fitting that changes nothing is still a successful fitting
If you walk in with equipment that fits you, the correct outcome is for us to confirm that and send you home. We charge for the session either way, and we would rather be trusted the next time than manufacture a reason to sell you a set today.
What Is Actually Here
No mystery equipment, no proprietary black box. Everything below is standard kit that any competent shop could buy; the difference is in how the session is sequenced.
The Tee Line
Roughly forty yards of maintained Celebration Bermuda with a mowed strip we rotate weekly so nobody is hitting from a scarred patch. Overseeded with rye from late November. There is a shaded canopy over the hitting area, because this is Florida and the alternative is losing every client between one and four in the afternoon.
Bay 1 and Bay 2
Two enclosed bays, each with a radar unit, a high speed camera aimed at the impact zone and a pressure mat under the hitting surface. Bay 2 has the putting strip, which rolls at about eleven and can be shimmed to introduce break.
The Build Room
Loft and lie machine, frequency analyser, swing weight scale, prism gauge, spine finder, bore through jig and a proper fume extractor for the epoxy. Wednesdays are build days and the fitting calendar is closed so nobody is gluing a ferrule while a client waits.
Component Library
Over three hundred cut-to-length shafts in test heads across the major and boutique lines, plus a grip wall with about sixty models. Stock is refreshed twice a season and older test heads are sold off cheap rather than presented as current.
Who Comes Through the Door
Most of our clients drive in from Dr. Phillips, Windermere, Winter Garden and Lake Nona, with a steady trickle from Celebration and the Bay Hill side. About a fifth are seasonal residents who play here from November to March and want their clubs adjusted for the difference between Florida turf and whatever they play at home.
The handicap spread is wider than people expect. We fit plenty of players in the low single digits, and we fit at least as many at twenty and above, which is frankly where the equipment changes tend to produce the largest visible difference.
We also do a fair amount of unglamorous work: re-gripping, shortening a set for a junior who has stopped growing, bending a wedge two degrees flat, and re-shafting the one club somebody snapped against a cart path.
